Default long term anti reflux drugs linked to osteoporosis

A recent article in Web MD links long term use of anti-reflux drugs like prilosec and nexium to osteoporosis and bone fractures. (long term=many years)...don't panic!!!
Google
Acid Reflux Drugs May Up Fractures

to find the article.

It seems like any medication can lead to problems at times, but when used as needed and as prescribed, they can be a life saver too.

I've been on prilosec and nexium since they were released (years and years ago for prilosec) and had a bone density test 3 months ago. Everything was great - bones in great shape ... so agree that if taken as prescribed, it's okay -- anything taken to excess is dangerous.

This is one reason our calcium supplementation is so important.
