Everyone else seems like they cant do that in one sitting. Am I full with that? Yes. Am i suppose to be tracking everything I eat? Journal or something? Am I suppose to be weighing my food? Im just kinda going by what my body tells me and I dont think its working. I will eat at lunch until i get nauseas (which is only after 4-5 bites MAYBE ) and I either manage to keep it down or it comes back up and out. Im on the mushy stage but I feel like as long as I chew chew chew I can make it mushy enough. That makes my stomach hurt though. I dont know.... I need guidance or Im strech this sleeve out before I get any use from it. If someone can help me Id appreciate it. Maybe like a meal plan I can follow? Ive been eating with the family but my stomach isnt having it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

So I had my surgery one week ago today on Sept. 1st. Can't say I enjoyed the two days in the hospital although they do have very good drugs! Came home moving just fine (even up flights of stairs), was able to sleep on my side by day 4 and last night slept on my side/stomach position which I favor. Swelling and gas is now gone (YEH!). Was back to drinking on day 4 in the same way I was before surgery - I can finish and 8oz water in 20-30 minutes and thankfully I still like my protein shakes (Max Muscle - 30 grams per 6 oz shake). All in all I feel absolutely normal, not hungry, drinking well and walking well.

The only bummer is I have not dropped a pound - nothing, nada, zilch! However I did come home 15 pounds heavier from all the IV fluid that was pumped into me and just got back to my pre-op weight today. Anyone else have this problem and if so please tell me that the scale will now start to move downward!!!!!:confused1:

Hi all!
I'm two months post-op and all is great with my sleeve. I can eat anything and everything without trouble, thank God!!

I'm wondering if I'm ready for coffee. I was never a heavy coffee drinker before; it was mainly "as needed." My surgeon and nurse say I can have it, but they've been saying that since one week post-op and it just seemed too soon. They are reliable, but I want to know what you sleevers have experienced. When did you reintroduce coffee and how did it go?

Same with alcohol. I was not a beer drinker, I mainly did liquor. There's a wedding coming up on the 25th of this month and I'd like to have a drink. I'd be 2 1/2 months by then. The doctor said I can tolerate alcohol now and even cracked a joke about me becoming a "cheap drunk." What do you guys think? What has been your experience with alcohol?

Thank you all and God bless you.

I am supposed to have my surgery later this month. My husband is totally opposed. He thinks I will struggle to live with the changes I will need to make to my lifestyle. He also questions what the long term effects of the surgery may be. I wonder if people who have been post op for more than a year hate the fact that they can no longer eat more than one piece of pizza or a Christmas turkey dinner (even if the portions are very small it would be impossible to have a taste of everything including dessert). Do you have regrets? If you had it to do over would you still do it? Is it worth the many sacrifices you have to make? I am flip flopping a dozen times a day - should I or should I not have the surgery!! I have about 50 lbs to lose. Would appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks very much.

Hi everyone,

I haven't checked out the board in a while, I've been out living the life I was too fat to live before surgery. On 8/30 I had my 5 month anniversary. I started the pre op diet on 3/26 at 295 lbs and 5 months later I'm at 200 lbs. It's actually hard to believe that I weighed 95 lbs more just 5 months ago!

So until about a month ago I followed a very strict post op diet that was 600-800 calories, 60+ grams of protein, and 30 carbs or less. I wasn't even exercising and I consistently lost around 3 to 3.5 pounds a week. Most days I only ate 650-700 calories because I just wasn't that hungry. The problem was that I started getting bored with the food choices I had available to keep under 30 carbs. So I paid a visit to my nutritionist about a month ago and she told me to forget about counting carbs altogether and just worry about getting 800 calories and 60g protein.

I got really excited about the carb liberation and went out and bought a bunch of low-cal, high-carb foods. Everything went great for the first couple of days, but then I noticed that I was hungry a lot. I was eating all of my 800 calories and still feeling hungry at the end of the day. This kind of freaked me out so I attempted to revert back to my carb controlled diet, but found that I wasn't as satiating as it was before my high carb experiment.

Now I don't know what to do. Even though I've lost 95 lbs I still have 65 to go, so I'm nowhere near done. The worst part is that I'm starting to get that panicky anxiety feeling like I'm out of control of my eating; something I never wanted to feel again. I'm so scared that I'm back in the world of dieting and struggling, and that my weight loss will stop at this 200 pound range, and that I'll never get to my goal weight. I just want to go back to the feeling that I had before I stopped counting carbs.

I'm sorry for this rant, I'm just scared that I jumped to a maintenance type diet too soon, and now I've ruined my tool.

Any advice or suggestions are very very appericated.

Thank you !!!

Soooo.... I wasn't doing too good with my protein drink in the beginning because I could not tolerate the drinks. I've tried sooo many brands and all GROSS to me! so then I found that if I take a protein powder (just a cheap $20 from walmart) and mix it in the blender with a tiny bit of decaf coffee and half a splenda, ice cubes, or just a couple frozen strawberries and almond milk then it takes pretty good. However, almond mink has 25 grams of fat per serving, and i drink 1 in a half servings! I hadn't even realized that just for breakfast itself I was having about 40 grams of fat!! and supposedly I've heard to stay under 30 grams A DAY! Which to me is impossible! I don't know how people do it because EVERYTHING has fat!

I tried non fat milk and I went back to not being able to tolerate the drink. what to do what to do.....? protein or fat?! UGHHHH!

Why must milk be so FAT! Tomorrow I will attempt to have my drink with nonfat milk AGAIN....

How do you guys get in less than 30 grams of fat a day?!

Hello. I'm new to the site and more of a lurker (stalker may be more appropriate lol) and read WAY more than I post. I have learned quite a few tips and things to watch for. More than the doctor has shared. Although I have to say my doctor has been very upfront and forthcoming. I am due to be sleeved on the 28th of this month and one thing I have been worried about is caring for my son after surgery. I'm a single mom with a two year old boy (he'll be three a week before surgery ) with extra ordinary energy. He's also a pretty big boy. Not fat, being overweight myself I am VERY aware of what he's eating and if he's getting enough energy. I think I'm the only person with a two year old who prefers broccoli over happy meals! Does anybody have any tips or suggestions on how to keep up or how long it took to be able to keep up after surgery. My mother is going to be keeping him for four days including the day of surgery and that'll be a wonderful help. I'm just looking for suggestions. Anything will help. Sorry for the novel!

First let me say that I have noticed that I get more hungry late in the evening. I don't know if it is because my Prilosec has ran its course from the morning dose or if it is just because I had been eating so little that it catches up with me late in evening. Secondly I ran out of the Prilosec yesterday and did not have a dose today (i forgot to pick it up today) and today I feel really hungry. Though when I write it down it doesn't look like that much. This morning I had a half a breakfast sandwich with cheese, couple scrambled eggs and a slice of deli ham. I drank some oj after that. I had a slice of bread with peanut butter for lunch. Then at 3:00 I got a bean burrito from taco bell and ate half of it rather quickly but wasn't sure if I felt full. It has been two hours and I just got the other half out of micro to eat the rest of it. I am not sure if it is acid hunger, possibly PMS (i get ravenous usually) or what. Am I jacking myself up? At one month should I be able to eat that much? WTh:cursing:

I need to get to the store to get some more fresh veggies and other high protein items. I will do that tomorrow. But I was surprised at the amount of that burrito I could fit.

Any thoughts? I am seriously concerned.

Pops(hubby) and I have been out running around doing errands and I'm not even tired! I'm having no adverse gas, burps cramps or pain. I even did 3 loads of clothes. I keep pulling up my gown to reassure myself it wasn't a dream and I really did do it. I really drug around Friday and Saturday but that energy surge started Sunday afternoon and is still continuing. Last night I thought I would never settle down. Finally I thought maybe I need to have a snack. I had all my protein and all my water so I had half a cup of creamy chicken soup and that did the trick ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!:biggrin2:

OMG!!! I can't belive I actually have a sleeve. I feel very well. Just a little soreness around my main incision over my navel. BM's regular now although the diahrrea was starting to tire me out...mostly from having to do so much laundry!!!

I am 26 days post op and down 25 post op lbs. for a total weight loss of 65lbs. I am thrilled. I feel great. Getting some exercise in, mostly in the pool and elliptical machine because it's still so darned hot here with heat advisories so I really haven't been able to really get out and walk the neighborhood.

People are noticing the weight loss. I went to a client site on Friday and my client said 'Wow, you're skinny!". I said not yet, but I am on my way. :lol0::thumbup::001_tongue:

My parents are coming to AZ next month. Haven't seen them since Feb. so they will be shocked to see the total. My dad doesn't know about the surgery. My mom does because she paid for it. I know they will be thrilled as the whole family is diabetic and I was on my way there with my weight being so high.

My son and his family were here on Sunday and I hadn't seen him in a few months (he has a wicked work schedule). He was excited for me. I still didn't tell them about the surgery. But they could see I was eating a whole lot less.

I am wearing some clothes I haven't been able to put on for a long time. About 5 years. Luckily they're not out of style. :laugh0:

I have 16 more lbs to get to Twoderville!!! That will be a major milestone for me. I can't wait. I can't wait. I can't wait!!!!

I Had my surgery on the 20th of Aug (also had a ventral hernia and hiatal hernia repaired), was kept in the hospital for 9 days 5 of which was NPO due to an ileus, I've been home for 9 days.
I feel great for the most part, dizzy a LOT. My only problem seems to be this air bubble that is very painful every time I take a drink or have my soup. With every bite I have to wait for this painful bubble to work it's way up my esophagus and sometimes twice. I have to wait up to a minute or longer to wait for the pain to stop!
Can anyone tell me if they had this problem, sure hope it's not permanent!
I can't burp much either and if I do manage to get a little one out I get VIOLENT hiccups almost immediately! In fact I get hiccups about every 15 minutes regardless of food intake.

I am 11 days out and am trying to eat some different things on my full liquid diet. It seems like I do well with campbell's tomato soup, cream of chicken, broths, etc...

Once in awhile I eat something that really causes some pain. For instance, I ordered lunch from Jason's Deli and ordered a cup of tomoto basil soup yesterday. After two teaspoons, I had to stop due the severe crampy, contraction like pains after swallowing the soup. This has happened once before with something I ate. Does anyone else have this? Is it because my stomach still is healing and just not ready yet? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I hope this will pass eventually and I will beable to enjoy many foods one day in smaller amounts.
I was not getting in nearly enough fluid and was burping 24-7. then I opened the cupboard to get my 2 yr old a drink and a stack of those cheap plastic sippy cups (no valves, they com in 5 packs) fell out at my head. I decided to try it. FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC! Burping is seriously reduced., there fore I and getting in much more fluiids. My protien shakes were the worst before, painful gain and I could barely get 1 shake down with gas x, now just a little burping and the shakes r going in. Hopefully I will actually drink all 3 tomorrow like Im supposed to! Hope this helps somebody get past that miserable gas!
